Now this is probably not a true story, but I remember reading it somewhere online a few years ago, and it really spooked me. And just to clarify, I don't rememeber it word for word, so I am going to put a little spin on it and make it my own.

A man and a woman were driving home from a short trip to a national park a few hours away. They stayed at the park late, so they decided to stop and get a hotel room so that one of them wouldn't have to drive tired. The man pulled into an old looking motel, and got out of the car. He heard yelling and fighting coming from a room. The man noticed an oddity about the room; it was the only hotel room without a number on the door. Not thinking about this, the man went to the office to get a room.
The man entered the office, which was devoid of any human prescence. He dinged a small bell sitting on the desk. A man of short stature walked into the office, and asked the man what he needed. The man responded by saying he would like a room. He paid and got a key. He then decided to ask about the room without a number. The clerk told him not to worry about the room, and that it isn't rented out anymore. The man tried to argue about the noises he heard, but the man denied it, and said that nobody was staying in that room.
The man went back to fetch his wife, and a few bags with neccesities inside. They went to their room, which just happened to be next to the room without the number. Curiosity got the best of the man, and he got down on one knee, and looked through the old fashioned keyhole. All he could see was red. It was as if someone had put tape over the keyhole so that nobody could see in. The man twisted the knob, but it was locked. Stumped, the man went into his hotel room, and went to sleep.
The man slept fine in the bed, and awoke in the morning ready to get on the road. He decided to look in the keyhole of the numberless room again. This time the red was gone, and all he could see in the dark room was the silhouette of a woman facing the window, wearing a pale white gown. He figured whatever happened the previous night had been worked out, and that all was well.
The man went to return the key at the office. When he entered the office, it was as if the clerk was waiting for him. The clerk instantly said, "I told you not to worry about that room. I saw you snooping around, looking through the keyhole. Do you wanna know why the door doesn't have a number?" The man was too curious to say no.
"The reason that the room has no number is because I am not allowed to let anybody stay in that room. Bad things happen to people that stay in that room. It all started five years ago. A young couple was staying in that room. The woman left to go into town, and when she returned hours later, she found her boyfriend with another woman. The woman went on a rampage after her boyfriend, trying to cause him bodily harm. In the ruckus, the boyfriend accidentally killed the woman. He threw her off of him and she hit her head. The man left the hotel as fast as he could, only to be caught a few days later. After the mess was cleaned up, I tried to rent the room out. Any male that would stay in that room would end up leaving, hysterical that a woman was trying to attack him. I've never seen the woman before, but the description of the woman is that she is wearing a pale white gown, and that she has rage-filled red eyes."

That's the end. You kind of have to read into it to get the big payoff. Whenever I think about what the man saw looking in the keyhole, it gives me chills. That is one of my favorite ghost stories, but I doubt it is real. I have some real ones that I can post if anyone pleases.
~~SO!! That must means the, "Rage Lady," with the Red eyes, was looking out of the Keyhole at the same time the man was looking in!! OMG!!!
That is soooo CREEPY!!! Excellent story my friend! One of the best! Rod
