Director: Sofia Coppola
Cast: Stephen Dorff, Elle Fanning, Chris Pontius
Writer/director Sofia Coppola reunites with the film company with which she made the Academy Award-winning hit "Lost in Translation." Her new film is an intimate story set in contemporary Los Angeles; Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) is a bad-boy actor stumbling through a life of excess at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood. With an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter (Elle Fanning), Johnny is forced to look at the questions we must all confront.
I like Somewhere more than any other film from 'teen celebrity' scene I've had chance to see so far. If something is above someone's comprehension, it is not necessarily a crap.

what are you even talking about? teen celebrity doesnt make films!
Elle Fanning has a lot of amazing movies but the movie somewhere is TOTALLY CRAP and boring.

I was talking about recently made Hollywood films that feature young celebrities.

What you say about Somewhere is just your opinion. If offending someone is not your purpose, I advise you to be more respectful to those who might think otherwise.
Well I think this very boring movie with a large quantity of obscure episodes. If you are not a fan of Sofia Coppola, the viewing of this film will be for you superfluous.

i rate it 1 out of 10. The 1 is because Elle was in it lol.
So if you want to waste an hour and a bit of your life, go hire and watch it lol.
i'll add to me review, the first 5 minutes the dudes driving his car around in a circle to the point where we thought the disk/dvd was playing up lol. the start where he was driving we fast forward, boring lame ass shit start to a movie. then the guy has poll dancers in his room and they even dragged that out, they dragged everything out, what scenes should have gone for a 30 seconds went for 5 minutes, pointless junk. there was 4 of us watching the movie, 2 walked out 30 minutes into the movie and me and my sis watched it out, our words, what a waste of an hour of our life. 2 good parts, elle is orsm on the ice, other she cried was sad. the rest was the guy driving his car, like we just watch and listen to the engine noise, WOW thats fun. i was glad it broke down. we sat there thinking something goods about to happen, and it never. theres billions of movies in this world, i have the right to give my rating/option to 1. others can reply on topic what they think of the movie, thats if they even WATCHED IT in the first place. i believe so far i haven't told anyone NOT to watch the movie. rating 1/10 totally pointless movie = crap.
@Arboreal, please name the movies you think "somewhere" was better to watch than other popular teen celebs. and what did the story line of the movie mean to you??? what sense did you get out of it? apart from the boring life the guy lead! looking forwards for an answer and review and parts of the movie you liked that you related to...

You have an absolutely valid opinion, I've never questioned that. It is the wording I can't accept. When I call something "crap" or "boring lame ass shit" I intend to be offensive and I suppose that's what you do.

In this statement you assume that anyone who reads your review has the same view on the movie's value which is not respectful to those who hasn't if not to all of your readers.
Maybe I don't interpret your intentions correctly. Sorry, if that is so.

Well, not a review, just a few thoughts.
I have to acknowledge that the first scene with a car making circles was boring. I guess it shows us the way in which Johnny leads his life, pointlessly and getting nowhere. But the rest of the movie kept me interested. Though there are only a few dramatic scenes, no part of the film seems pointless to me, each one has its purpose. I was able to find pleasure in those many situations where Johnny is treated with irony, in observing his tiredess and boredom and in his daughter's affection. I didn't get any sense apart from what is quite obvious.
Other films with teen celebs that I can remember are Elle's Phoebe in Wonderland, Little miss sunshine and My sister's keeper with Abigail Breslin, Coraline that features Dakota's voice, Off the map, Ghost world. I think that some of them are just as good as Somewhere.
