Default anyone use divx?

i just added a divx addon to play AVI files on the forums, but i noticed i have to actually go to divx.com and download the crap to be able to watch my clip on the forums. is there another way around this, i dont want divx installed on my computer, i cant see why i have to download it just to watch AVI videos.

IE:

this video will ask you to down load a plug in yes??????

EDIT: LINK REMOVED

Divx is a codec for video compression and actual alot of avi files use it no days. If you don't want to install the codec you can try to use VLC media player and should be able to play the file without having to get the codec itself.

i have codec which plays anything, VLC i uninstalled years ago. but i dont want everyone on the forums to download a player just to watch a clip on the forum, meaning in a browser not on ones computer. maybe i should stick to the FLV player for the forum, just didnt want to have to convert files all the time. everyone has flash installed to watch youtube, pitty divx wasnt the same.
