interesting in some way
The first time I read Divergent (by Veronica Roth), a specific face came into mind for the character "Tris" (a.k.a. "Beatrice Pryor"): AnnaSophia Robb from Bridge To Terabithia and Soul Surfer. So, she was the first person put forward in a fan-casting article that week with a few thoughts on why she might be a good actress for the role if and when the film version of Divergent comes to be (note: Twilight film studio Summit Entertainment has nabbed the rights for this project).
Having read it again, however, several new faces came to mind throughout - one of which was Elle Fanning.
You might know Elle Fanning from the recent Somewhere or The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button or the forthcoming J.J. Abrams/Steven Spielberg picture Super 8. (She's also the younger sister of Dakota Fanning, of course.)
There are a couple of reasons why Elle Fanning seems to be a good match for "Tris."
For starters, she's blonde and small (although she, like her sister, is rather tall for her age, 13, but that's almost better for the sake of playing a sixteen-year-old); also, she's got a lot of innocence about her look. Throughout the story of Divergent, there are people around "Tris" who feel compelled to protect or stand up for her. She aims to transcend that image with her actions and capabilities, but her features are still small. In that sense, Elle Fanning has the "look" of "Tris" right off.
Attached is a short film she recently did called The Curve of Forgotten Things. There are a couple of "Tris"-like moments in there. I'd love to see a manipulation of Elle Fanning with a few tattoos to see if she could pull off the tougher, sportier side to her too.
There's also the added bonus of Elle Fanning being considered a respected up-and-comer . . . Recent photos of Elle Fanning are available in the slideshow for your consideration.
any Thoughts on this?
